2024 Grant Recipients

Orrville Area United Way (OAUW) is happy to announce the recipients of its 2024 grants, following a thorough review process by its Board of Directors. At the January meeting, the Board unanimously approved the allocation of funds to various organizations serving the Dalton, Marshallville, and Orrville area.

The grant funding process began with the CommUNITY Campaign Kick-off in August 2023, driven by dedicated campaign cabinet volunteers who engage individuals and businesses in supporting OAUW's mission. Their efforts bore fruit as the campaign not only met but exceeded its goal, raising an impressive $711,000. During the previous grant cycle, reserve funds were accessible that the Board determined to immediately disperse into the 2023 grants and through OAUW’s largest special grant availability to date. With these reserve funds depleted, and with increased requests and new needs, OAUW was more dependent on the community than ever.

In determining the allocation of campaign donations, OAUW adheres to a rigorous and community-focused funding process. The Citizens Review Committee (CRC), consisting of 7-9 committed volunteers from the area, meticulously evaluates grant applications. Their review includes a weighted scorecard and a local focus, ensuring that the donations have the greatest impact on the communities of Dalton, Marshallville, and Orrville. The CRC's recommendations are then carefully considered by the OAUW Board before final approval.

For the upcoming year, OAUW has allocated grants to a diverse range of organizations, reflecting the varied needs of the community. Among the recipients are:

· Orrville Area Boys & Girls Club - KidStop & Teen Center: $104,500

These grants underscore OAUW's commitment to addressing the diverse needs of the community and supporting organizations that make a meaningful difference in the lives of residents. Through collaborative efforts and community support, OAUW continues to be a vital force for positive change in the Dalton, Marshallville, and Orrville area.
