Orrville Area United Way is pleased to again be a host of the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program for the 2023 tax season. The VITA program, a crucial initiative in the community, offers free tax preparation services for families with household incomes generally less than $60,000, persons with disabilities, the elderly, and limited English-speaking taxpayers who need assistance in preparing their tax returns.
VITA is staffed by IRS-certified volunteers and provides free basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing to qualified individuals. Last year, Orrville Area United Way successfully helped file 117 claims, totaling $243,000 in returns and saving taxpayers approximately $26,000 in preparation fees. This initiative not only provides invaluable financial assistance to those in need but also contributes to the economic well-being of the community.
This year, Orrville Area United Way is proud to continue its commitment to assisting individuals and families in navigating the tax filing process. VITA will be hosted at the Orrville Area United Way office located at 135 N Main St., Orrville, OH 44667. Services will be available from February 14th to March 13th, 2024.
