Community Unites for a Successful Day of Caring

Day of Caring, a collaborative initiative between Orrville Area United Way and the Orrville Area Chamber of Commerce, was an extraordinary morning of impact on May 1, 2024. Over 260 volunteers representing 23 local businesses and organizations came together to accomplish an impressive 39 projects.

Under sunny skies, volunteers dedicated their time and effort to 15 non-profit locations and completed 2 residential projects, leaving a lasting impact on our community. Additionally, this year's Day of Caring partnered with Sound the Alarm, a national program by the American Red Cross focused on home safety. Thanks to this collaboration, 45 smoke alarms were installed in 21 homes, ensuring the safety of 54 local residents.

The collaboration extended beyond volunteer efforts. Eight local restaurants generously contributed by offering a 10% Day of Caring Dining Discount to volunteers sporting their Day of Caring shirts, further amplifying the community spirit of this event.

This remarkable achievement was only possible because of the caring spirit exhibited by volunteers, businesses, sponsors, and non-profits alike. Dedicated to promoting volunteerism and community improvement throughout Dalton, Marshallville, and Orrville, Day of Caring left a positive impact on the lives of others, truly showcasing the power of our community coming together for a common cause.

Day of Caring is an annual event, uniting businesses, individuals, and groups in meaningful volunteer work. The success of this year's event is a testament to the power of community when united in service.
