We are proud to offer the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program to our community! VITA provides free tax preparation services for individuals and families with household incomes below $60,000, as well as persons with disabilities, the elderly, and those with limited English proficiency.
Through this program, IRS-certified volunteers help qualified taxpayers file their returns, ensuring they receive the tax credits they deserve. In 2024, we helped file 154 tax returns, resulting in $138,356 in refunds and saving our neighbors an estimated $34,000 in preparation fees. The 2025 VITA program will run from March 5 to March 26. We encourage volunteers to sign up for two shifts, but any amount of time you can give is appreciated! Shifts are flexible, and no prior tax experience is required—training is provided.
